Photography is in Richard's blood – his grandfather was an eminent photographer during the 1930s. His work was exhibited at the National Mining Museum in 2006. Several other family members have enjoyed successful careers in photography since then.

As a teenage trumpet player Richard won countless national competitions and was widely regarded as one of the outstanding players of his age in the country. He now applies the skills and characteristics that took him to the very top of that discipline to photography. He is a perfectionist who uses the finest tools and a constant drive for excellence to take and make great pictures.
